Code 05 is one of the most common codes that merchants receive.
A declined 05 code is accompanied by a Do Not Honor declined response, which is a standard issuer message for blocked transactions.
Please keep in mind that the 05 response is returned via Shift4 directly from the issuing bank, so there’s nothing we can do in this case.
What can you do about the 05 code?
We advise you to contact your customer and request that they speak with their bank about the reason for the card decline.
